St. Joseph Church/School Roof Repair/Replacement

The St. Joseph Parish Council approved the roof repair and are planning for the replacement during the of summer 2024. 

The estimated cost is $95,000, donations received so far total $78,428.05.  This is a community appeal! If you would like to contribute to this project, please mark all donations as SJ Roof Repair and drop them in the collection basket at any Mass or mail them to the office at PO Box 136, Gilbertville, IA 50634. Grotto Project

december 2023 update

The renovation of our beautiful Sacred Heart Grotto at Immaculate Conception is almost complete! Work was done by Technical Specialty Systems, Inc., Cedar Rapids. We are working on getting dirt work and seeding done, planning to include some lighting (if anyone is interested in helping with this please call the office or Bart Samuelson), and we will move the statue of Christ back when the ground freezes.

Thank you to all who generously donated to this project! Your support is greatly appreciated and will allow us to maintain this beautiful, one of a kind, treasure!  Our parishioners, both past and present, saw the importance of preserving this treasure by donating funds to cover the cost of the project.

The Sacred Heart Grotto was originally started in 1935 and finished in 1938 by Fr. Cremer. It was renovated and restored in 1986 by the Knights of Columbus. 

Thanks to the generosity of so many, we are once again restoring this treasure!
